Dear Parish Family:
The Easter season is now a memory; the special celebrations of the mysteries of the Trinity, the Body and Blood of the Lord, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus have also passed. The liturgy now directs our attention to the day-to-day pursuit of holiness. We resume our journey through Matthew’s gospel with the conclusion to the Sermon on the Mount. We will also be following Paul’s description of righteousness through faith in his Letter to the Romans for the next 15 weeks. The following image from today’s gospel is haunting in as much as it reflects current weather conditions in parts of our country:
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” (Matthew 7, 24)
Some months ago, parishioners were given the opportunity to list what they perceived to be blessings and needs. The leadership here at St. Mary’s spent two Saturdays reflecting upon our shared ministry in this community based upon the results of this survey. This weekend the fruits of these discussions are being presented after all the Masses. Dr. Susan Timoney, formerly of the EPS program and now with the Archdiocese, will facilitate these presentations. As you know, various building projects have been recommended. I will report on these plans and on our financial needs at the end of the summer. It is essential, however, to keep in mind that any building we do must flow from our ministry needs.
“Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7, 21)
Yours in Christ, Father Bill Foley
"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock." - Mt 7:24-25

Our prayers and hopes for much success go with them. I am sure they will never forget St. Mary’s and the teachers who got them a fine start in the world. Let me also extend best wishes to the students from the Parish who attend other schools and who are graduating at this time from various levels of scholastic endeavor. Congratulations to all of you.
